Francesca Ceppi Selected To Serve On National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
Mount Olive College women's tennis student-athlete Francesca Ceppi has been selected as the Conference Carolinas representative to the NCAA Division II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Ceppi becomes the third Mount Olive College student-athlete to serve on the National SAAC board.
A 2012 All-Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis selection, Ceppi is in her second year as a member of SAAC.
"My initial reaction was one of shock. It felt and still feels unreal to say that I am representing my conference at a national level," said Ceppi, a sophomore from Caracas, Venezuela. "I am excited to take this position and I am aware of the importance and level of responsibility that I have in my hands now."
Ceppi participated in this year's NCAA APPLE Conference and also graduated Mount Olive's Leadership Program, a four-session course for student-athletes identified by their coaches as team leaders. MOC assistant athletics director and SAAC advisor LaToya Lindsey oversaw the Leadership Program.
"Francesca is very active with our campus SAAC and I know she will represent Mount Olive College and Conference Carolinas well on the national level," said Lindsey. "We could not be happier for her selection."
Director of Athletics Jeff Eisen added, "Francesca is an excellent student, a great athlete and a strong team leader. We are proud that she will be representing Mount Olive College and Conference Carolinas on the National SAAC and know that she will do an outstanding job."
In 2007-08, Mount Olive College women's volleyball/women's track and field student-athlete Samantha Mitchell represented Conference Carolinas on the National SAAC. In 2002-03, Trojan women's volleyball student-athlete Brianna Williams served as National SAAC Chair.
"I am honored and overwhelmed to be selected, and I will do my best to represent Mount Olive College and Conference Carolinas as best as I can," said Ceppi.
