Conference-High Six Trojans On Conference Carolinas Women’s Volleyball All-Academic Team

Mount Olive shared conference honors for most women's volleyball all-academic selections as six Trojans were named to the 2012 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball All-Academic Team. Lauren Lee, Nicole Powell, Ashlee Reuter, Talita Rocha, Nicole Sparks, Laura Vega earned All-Academic honors. The All-Academic Team recognizes juniors and seniors with a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average.

Lee, a junior from Mount Olive, N.C., is a biology major with a minor in exercise science. She was named to the 2011-12 Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll. Her plans after college are to go to graduate school to study physical therapy.

Powell is a junior from Oxford, N.C., and is majoring in business administration/business management. She earned a 2011-12 Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement award and was also selected to the 2011-12 Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll.

Reuter, a recreational therapy major from Durand, Ill., is a junior but will have enough credits to graduate in May. A 2011-12 Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll selection, Reuter was named Mount Olive's Most Promising Recreational Therapy Underclassman last year.

A senior from Contangem, Brazil, Rocha is a business administration major. She earned a 2011-12 Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement award and was also selected to the 2011-12 Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll. After graduation, Rocha plans to return to Brazil and pursue a master's degree in international business.

Sparks is a junior from Songtan, South Korea and has a perfect 4.0 grade point average majoring in biology. She joined Powell and Rocha as recipients of a 2011-12 Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement award and was also selected to the 2011-12 Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll. Her plans after graduation are to go to graduate school and then commission in the U.S. Air Force.

Vega, a senior from Fajardo, Puerto Rico, will graduate in May with a degree in exercise science. During this past summer, she completed a prestigious Clinical Research Internship Study Program (CRISP) at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement award recipient and Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll selection in 2011-12, Vega's future plans are to earn a master's degree in public health and to become a reproductive health specialist.

A total of 37 women's volleyball student-athletes earned All-Academic honors. Mount Olive tied with Erskine for the most selections from one school.
